Idromeccanica Lucchini has recently started a profitable collaboration with Vivai le Georgiche: a company present on the market for over forty years and specialized in the production and care of plants for gardening.

The company, active in the field of floriculture, managed by Silverio and his sons Sebastiano and Giordano, pays particular attention to respect for the environment and the sustainability of all its products. To design its plants, the company has relied on the experience of Idromeccanica Lucchini to find ideal solutions for protection and respect for the environment in the production phases, especially with regard to energy and water savings. Eco-sustainability is in fact at the heart of the philosophy of Le Georgiche, which has reduced plastic packaging (however recyclable) to only 0.5% of the entire production, while the remaining part is made up of entirely degradable and compostable materials that are transformed over time into a real fertilizer for the plants themselves.
A sustainable Plant
With their strong ideals in mind, Silverio and his sons commissioned Idromeccanica Lucchini to build a plant that was both as sustainable as possible and less dependent on fossil fuels. The most complex part of plant design, therefore, had to focus on the internal temperatures management, through insulation and solar radiation management that allowed a temperature as constant as possible inside the structures, minimising the use of energy-intensive heating systems and helping to mitigate the need for mechanical cooling. To achieve these results, Idromeccanica Lucchini has provided a structure that allows the roof opening for a natural cooling of the rooms and the use of diffusers and blackout sheets, mechanically moved, for a perfect sunlight management. When electricity becomes necessary, the facilities of Le Georgiche are equipped with solar panels for the autonomous production of energy. In addition to fossil fuels, water is also a precious and not inexhaustible resource that should not be wasted at all. For water saving Idromeccanica Lucchini supplied Le Georgiche with pallets for the processing of the seedlings that were equipped with the system "flow and reflux": a closed apparatus that allows a considerable saving of water and fertilizer.
A growing business
From 2013 to the normal gardening Le Georgiche has added a system of online sales that, in recent years, has first joined, then passed the normal distribution channels. After a careful study on packaging and their materials and thanks to a more intense and higher quality production cycle guaranteed by the Idromeccanica Lucchini plants, Le Georgiche has established itself as an important company in continuous expansion and a technological point of reference in the field of floriculture and gardening.
