Last time, a few days ago, we talked about the experience of Idromeccanica Lucchini in Finland, where the company has installed a particularly complex greenhouse for the soli-less cultivation of strawberries. After solving the problems related with light managing, through the use of selected plastic films and a cover/ discover system essential for the preservation of the sheets during the winter, today we will analyze the particular architecture of the greenhouse. Climatic conditions in Finland have made it necessary making a strong customization of the plant for this particular need, even with the use of extraordinary materials.
Taylor-made Solution
Also in this case, Idromeccanica Lucchini has built a greenhouse based on customer’s specific needs. The roof opening system in fact needed special finishings and arrangements and it was necessary also to attend on the perimeter systems of windows and opening of the greenhouse.
Finland is in fact a nation with an adverse climate (wind and snow) so the window finishings have been made to the state of the art, even with complex materials such as polycarbonate and aluminum, to not have too direct or violent air movements on the plant. Access openings are also important: machinery must be able to enter the greenhouse at all times but, at the same time, it must be ensured the plant not to be run over by a mass of air and of cold enough to affect its growth. The openings have been realized with automatic and motorized control and with a system of vestibules, so that they can be used both as logistic area and for the climate control that happens, therefore, entirely with natural ventilation.
A Project from A to Z
The project related to the cultivation of strawberries in Finland was followed by Idromeccanica Lucchini from A to Z. First, the design phase took place according to the customer’s needs and the particular climatic situation, then the actual construction of the greenhouses supplied and installed in record time. In just six months, despite the strong restrictions due to Covid Period, an area of cultivation of two and a half hectares was covered. The construction site has been organized and managed giving great demonstration of logistic abilities, managing to work also in winter. Technicians and Specialists of Idromeccanica Lucchini have always been close to the customer both physically and, when for obvious reasons it was not possible, with continuous remote assistance and in compliance with all International Regulations. After the installation phase, Idromeccanica Lucchini task continues, with constant advice provided to the customer both from a technical and agronomic point of view.
Despite the climatic and environmental problems, and despite the covid emergency, this Finnish one can be considered a bet won by Idromeccanica Lucchini.
